Trzesniewski

Dorotheergasse 1, 1010 Wien

When you’re looking for a quick bite to eat while exploring Vienna, look no further than Trzesniewski. An iconic sandwich shop, Trzesniewski has been operating since 1902, serving small open sandwiches and accompanying beers to the people of Vienna. Sandwiches are made with fresh, dark bread and then topped with 25 different topping variations including: bacon with egg, truffle egg with ham, crab, Swedish herring and lentil with beetroot. 18 of the varieties have remained unchanged since the very start! Each sandwich is about 2 mouthfuls, so grab a few to try and a Pfiff (1/8 of a litre) of beer and enjoy this Viennese tradition. There are eleven locations around the city, but the original is at Dorotheergasse. It is said to serve more than 5,000 sandwiches a day!
