Step down into the gorgeous Scandinavian inspired café with its vaulted ceiling, designer armchairs and timber tables and grab a perfectly poured coffee and a sweet treat.

On a lovely street corner of a tree lined street, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the famous Schloss Mirabell, you will find excellent coffee and some of the best cakes in the city. Inside, the décor is a quirky mix of old Viennese style mixed with modern touches including tropical palm trees and bird sculptures popping out from the walls. Outside there is a lovely street-side terrace where you can relax in the sun. Popular with locals, the cafe gets quite busy, but don’t worry it’s worth it!
Afro Café

Afro Café is an African-inspired café in the heart of the Salzburg Old Town. While at first it may seem a little out of place, the cafe makes for a welcome change to the more traditional Austrian options in town. The décor is vibrant, colourful and fun, with traditional and contemporary African art featured. There is also a great outdoor terrace where you can sit and take in the beautiful Old Town surrounds. They serve excellent Fairtrade coffee with beans sourced from East Africa, along with a huge range of teas. A range of African-inspired dishes are served throughout the day making it a great spot to stop for a pick-me-up or something more substantial.

The baristas at Kaffee-Alchemie take great pride in brewing one of the best cups of coffee in the city. From delicate single origin aeropress to silky flat whites, Kaffee-Alchemie is a delightful café not to be missed in Salzburg. Situated in the Old Town, with views across the Salzach River and up into the hills, the café is a cosy and quirky space with pastel walls, a few timber tables and gorgeous green leaves cascading down from above the windows.
