Bars

Barcelona is home to hundreds of bars: tapas bars, pintxos bars, rooftop bars, beach bars, cocktail bars and casual neighbourhood boozers. We have selected a small range of spots to get you started!

Duquesa de Cardona Terrace

Passeig de Colom, 12, 08002 Barcelona

On the sixth floor of the boutique Duquesa de Cardona Hotel, overlooking the spectacular Port Vell, is one of the bests rooftop bars in Barcelona. Up here you can bask in the late afternoon sun, watching the palms and yacht-masts sway in the breeze while enjoying a refreshing cold drink. A calm environment, away from the Insta-crowd, with soft background music, it’s a lovely spot to relax and recharge after a day of sightseeing.

BierCab

Carrer de Muntaner, 55, 08011 Barcelona

If beer is your thing, head to BierCab, in the trendy Eixample neighbourhood. Opened by a group of craft beer-loving friends, BierCab has a rotating list of 30 different beers on tap covering a huge range of styles and tastes. They showcase local beers but also offer a range of beers from around the world. Modern design featuring exposed brick and timber, along with friendly and helpful staff make this a great spot to spend a couple of hours sampling some delicious brews.

El Vaso de Oro

Carrer de Balboa, 6, 08003 Barcelona

In the backstreets of Barcelonetta, El Vaso de Oro has operated as a bar and tapas joint for more than 50 years. A long, timber bar dominates this traditional hotspot where locals and tourists alike, cram into whatever space is available at the bar and shout their orders to the ever-obliging staff. They take their beer seriously here, having made their own since before the current microbrew trends took off, and their tapas is regarded as some of the best in the city.

Monvinic

Carrer de la Diputació, 249, 08007 Barcelona

With over 3000 bottles in their cellar, Monvinic takes its wine seriously. On arrival at this stylish Eixample wine bar/restaurant, you will be issued with an electronic tablet containing a comprehensive guide of the wines on offer. However, feel free to discuss your likes and dislikes with the knowledgeable and friendly staff and have them recommend something – they know their wine!  Each day, staff open 40-50 bottles of wine that you can enjoy by the glass (or half glass), making it a great place to try a range of wines, or perfect when you and your companion/s might have different tastes. If you’re peckish, the chefs create delicious tapas to match with the wines on offer that day.

Paradiso

Carrer de Rera Palau, 4, 08003 Barcelona

Hidden behind a fridge door at the back of a pastrami shop in the El Born neighbourhood lies Paradiso. It might sound like a strange place for one of Barcelona’s best bars to be hidden away, but that’s part of the fun – it is a speakeasy after all. Once inside, the layout is cave-like with a curved timber frame, a long bar and dim lights. This is modern mixology at its best, so be daring and let the professional bartenders make you something special. You won’t be disappointed.
